According to the U.N. FAO, 31.8% or about 328,088,000 ha of Western and Central Africa is forested, according to FAO.

Change in Forest Cover: Between 1990 and 2010, Western and Central Africa lost an average of 1,585,750 ha or 0.44% per year. In total, between 1990 and 2010, Western and Central Africa lost 8.8% of its forest cover, or around 31,715,000 ha.
